Inspired by the movie: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)

Artist Statement: I choose the theme of my work from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. 

I decided to go with the great hall where everyone eats meals. I wanted to convey the feeling that

there are more people there, as well as I also showed the colors of the houses.

I wanted it to be very formal because I believe the great hall is a very formal place to eat.

Artist Statement: For both Sculptures, I wanted to give honor to my Grandpas as well as the military. The first sculpture focuses on PTSD and how it's a hidden disorder. The second sculpture was focusing on the memory of the 13 military members who lost their lives to a suicide bomber in Kabul. It is shown in the first sculpture by half the face being darker than the other side with a hole in that side of the head. The second sculpture was my own version of a military memorial.

The Darkness of Gregor's Humanity

Response to Franz Kafka's short story The Metamorphosis.

Explanation: The darker part of the story showed me different colors and showed how lonely Gregor was.

Student Statement: I started my piece wanting to model it after the loneliness during the story. This meant that everything would have darker colors. I thought it would be interesting to show how I thought the bed was. I decided to symbolize Gregor with a baby since babies are born usually alone. I imaged the piece to be bitter or fragile which is why it looks so torn up.

Statement:

Dogs can be very loving, energetic, and fun to play with. I have two Great Danes at home and all they want is to be loved and to play around a lot.

Statement:

Tattoos are a big part of people's life if you get some the pain of getting a tattoo means you won't forget it as well as you will have it on your body forever. For me, it has to mean something to me to get a tattoo to get it on my body.
